Android turned 5 on the 5th of this month. It has only been 5 years since The Open Handset Alliance announced the Linux based mobile platform. It is hard to believe that only 5 years ago Android was released and since has capitalized on about 75% of the world-wide Smartphone market.
Since Android’s release it has grown about 90% each year which is massive in any industry especially when compared to the only other comparable Smartphone manufacturer, Apple. Apple only grew 46.4 each year. Windows and other phones only grew about 3% individually. It has been great to watch Android grow so fast, and it will be amazing to see how far they can push it in the next 5 years.
