D-Link Gaming Router Released

Dlink, one of the many popular network equipment companies has released the first 802.11ac based router. This new standard allows for WiFi access at great speeds in comparison to older routers. The new standard allows for data transfer speeds up to 1300 Mbps, between the router and a 802.11ac compatible device.

The major difference between this router and others that currently support 802.11ac is that this router uses Qualcomm’s newest chip which has the new Streamboost technology as well. Streamboost is similar to the current QoS but the major difference is that Streamboost actually learns how much bandwidth an application or device needs. The ability to learn makes it much more effective at allocating bandwidth without giving more than an application needs.

The other nice feature the new DGL-5500 router offers is dual band technology with a 450 Mbps connection on the 2.4 Ghz band.
